Toshiba is a leading supplier of high-performance gallium nitride (GaN) and gallium arsenide (GaAs) microwave devices that operate in S, C, X, Ku and Ka frequency bands. The company's high power products are used in wireless applications such as, SATCOM (SSPA/BUC/VSAT), microwave link (PTP, PTMP), RADAR, medical equipment, and industrial applications. Toshiba recently introduced the development of Ka-band high power GaN HEMTs to support SATCOM applications and new efficient, high-gain power GaAs FETs, MMICs, and modules.
Toshiba continues to maintain its leadership in the C-, S-, X- and Ku-Band frequency ranges by developing the highest output power, as well as offering the broadest product line-up in the industry. The C- and Ku-Band devices are optimized for use in solid-state power amplifiers (SSPAs) for SATCOM and VSAT applications. The power level for C-Band is 4 watts (W) up to 80W, which is the highest offered in the industry for its frequency band. In addition, the Ku-Band also offers the highest power levels in the industry for its frequency band, ranging from 2W to 30W. The first GaN product, the TGI8596-50, provides output power of 50W. Higher gain, higher output power GaN devices are currently under development.
Toshiba also offers an ultra linear GaAs FETs product family, designated the UL family, for C-Band frequency range with higher gain, lower intermodulation distortion and higher efficiency. The UL product family includes products from 4 watts (W) up to 25W and was developed for point-to-point microwave digital radio for terrestrial communications and block up converter or VSAT terminal for satellite communications.
