Microcontrollers for Water Heaters

Water heaters are broadly categorized into gas, electric and solar-powered heaters. Hot water is circulated to bathrooms and floor heating systems. The water is adjusted to a temperature specified via a remote controller (PLC communication) by mixing hot and cold water at a mixing valve. Many manufacturers now offer water heaters that use an energy-efficient electric heat pump called EcoCute.

The Basic Concept of The Product

5V Microcontrollers for General Applications (with Multi-purpose Timers)
The microcontroller contains multiple AD converters that achieve high-speed conversion to handle data from various sensors to measure water volume and temperature, and to detect fire. Toshiba offer microcontrollers with 5V operation (M370, M380 Group(Note)) for controlling a pump motor and a fan motor, incorporating multi-purpose timers that can control the temperature of a heater without increasing the CPU load.
5V 8-bit Microcontrollers for General Applications
Cutting-edge flash technology (NANO FLASH™) is employed in the 8-bit microcontroller to realize high-speed and low-power consumption. A microcontroller built in a remote controller controls a display panel, sound ICs and communication ICs. Since microcontrollers used for water heaters need to be highly reliable, we have 5V microcontrollers featuring a high level of noise tolerance, to prevent malfunctions caused by lightning or noises from devices such as a motor and a switch.
