Air cleaners use motors in many situations, including dust collection, ventilation, and compressors with dehumidification. In the past, AC motors were mostly used, but BLDC motors began to be used as air cleaners become more slim and more energy-efficient. BLDC motors have features such as energy saving, long life, low noise, small size and light weight. BLDC motors are playing a leading role in replacing AC motors, particularly in functions requiring controllability and parts requiring long service life. In order to control BLDC motors with high efficiency, Toshiba's high voltage intelligent power ICs employ the latest high voltage fine SOI (Silicon On Insulator) processes and a compact surface-mount package to enable compact and high-efficiency BLDC motor drive with low switching loss and a few peripheral components.
