Image Recognition Processors Visconti™: Roadmap and System Organizations

Roadmap

This is a roadmap of the TMPV75 and TMPV76 series of image recognition processors.

The Visconti™5 (TMPV770) series of artificial intelligence (AI) processors for automotive image recognition incorporating deep neural network (DNN) hardware IP will be available for sampling in September 2019. The Visconti™5 series is suitable for advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) and automatic driving applications.
Toshiba has been developing image recognition processors since the 1990s and released a test chip in 2001. After making further improvements, we released a first-generation product, the Visconti™ (T5BG3XBG), in 2003.
In 2011, Toshiba released the Visconti2 (TMPV750) Series that incorporates not only a suite of image processing accelerators optimized for human recognition but also a new enhancement that allows the use of color cameras to detect both brightness and color. In 2013, Toshiba launched the Visconti3 (TMPV752) Series that contains two instances of Arm® Cortex®-A9 MPCore with single- and double-precision floating-point units (FPUs).

This is a roadmap of the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems and Euro NCAP Requirements.

In November 2014, exploiting pattern recognition using luminance-based and color-based image information, the Visconti4 (TMPV760) Series delivers a significant improvement in image recognition at nighttime. Additionally, the Visconti4 (TMPV760) Series allows 3D reconstruction using the input stream of a monocular camera and can detect standstill obstacles on the road surface.
