9- and 24-Channel Constant-Current LED Driver Series with High-Speed Serial Bus Control

Toshiba offers 9- and 24-channel LED drivers with a high-speed serial bus ideal for LED illumination applications. These LED drivers have three pins for red, green and blue lights for a full-color LED and allow separate current levels to be programmed for individual colors.

High-Speed Single-Wire Serial Bus Control
9-Channel LED Driver: TB62D786FTG [New Product]

The TB62D786FTG is an LED driver with a single-wire Manchester-encoded serial bus designed for LED illumination applications.

Although the LED driver section of the TB62D786FTG provides the same performance as our existing LED drivers, the TB62D786FTG helps to further simplify the LED unit configuration.

Features of the LED Driver with Single-Wire Serial Bus Control
  • Manchester-encoded receive-only input with a frequency range from 0.5 MHz to 2.0 MHz
  • Device IDs can be hardcoded through threshold voltage levels produced by IC pins (VCC, current setting pins, open, GND), eliminating the need for voltage-dividing resistors.
  • The dedicated buffer pin allows a daisy chain to be formed to simplify data transfer to the next board.
  • Due to the integrated LDO regulator (with an input voltage range of 7 to 28 V and an output voltage of 5 V), the TB62D786FTG can operate with a single supply voltage, making it possible to reduce the input pole count to three.
  • Package: VQFN24 (5 mm × 5 mm, 0.5-mm lead pitch)

High-Speed Two-Wire Serial Bus Control
9-Channel LED Driver: TB62781FNG / 24-Channel LED Driver: TB62D612FTG

The TB62781FNG is a 9-channel LED driver while the TB62D612FTG is a 24-channel LED driver. These LED drivers provide a two-wire serial bus interface and are designed for LED illumination applications.

The two-wire SPI interface allows high-speed control of the LED driver and simplifies system wiring.

Features of the LED Drivers with Two-Wire Serial Bus Control
  • Controllable via a clock-synchronous receive-only SPI bus with an input clock frequency of ≤ 10 MHz
  • Device ID that is hardcoded via three voltage levels derived from VCC (VCC, VCC × 2/3, VCC × 1/3, GND).
  • Reset mode (with a standby current of less than 1 μA)
  • Packages:
    TB62781FNG: SSOP20 (4.4 mm × 6.5 mm, 0.65-mm lead pitch) / TB62D612FTG: WQFN36 (6 mm × 6 mm, 0.5-mm lead pitch)

4-Digit 7-Segment LED Display Drivers: TB62785NG/FTG [New Product]

The TB62785NG and TB62785FTG are constant-current LED drivers specifically designed for 7-segment LED display applications.

They are designed as successors to the existing TB62709FG/NG. The TB62785FTG is housed in the small leadless VQFN24 package and thus helps reduce the board size, compared to the TB62785NG in a DIP package.

Features of the 7-Segment LED Display Driver
  • An anode-common 7-segment LED display with up to four digits can be controlled.
  • The digits are scanned at a frequency of 480 Hz (typically) in dynamic mode.
  • The LED current is programmable via a single external resistor.
  • Multiple LED drivers can be cascaded using the DATA-OUT pin
  • Brightness is programmable in 16 steps (including off and 100%) via input data. All digits are configured for the same brightness.
  • A 7-segment decoder is incorporated for the control of a 4×8 dot-matrix LED display.
  • Packages:
    TB62785NG: SDIP24 (1.778-mm lead pitch) / TB62785FTG: VQFN24 (5 mm × 5 mm, 0.5-mm lead pitch)
