Automotive information products and mobile devices offer high performance and are popular in today's market. This equipment provides important information and comfort to the driver, yet to ensure safety certain restrictions must be followed.
The Toshiba Bluetooth® LSI for car audio and navigation can provide higher connectivity with cellular phones. In addition, the high-performance on-chip processor in the Bluetooth LSI with various middleware provides a comfortable hands-free system and supports a wireless audio streaming function.
A hands-free Bluetooth system can be created by connecting an external DSP to the TC35661 Bluetooth IC. The integrated ARM® ARM7™ processor provides control over Bluetooth pairing with a mobile phone, and sends and receives voice signals for telephone calls.
The ARM7™ processor passes voice data to/from the external DSP via an I2S interface, which, in turn, provides echo cancellation (EC) and noise reduction (NR) to enable hands-free, in-vehicle telephone calls.
The following figure shows an application example for the TC35668 incorporating the ARM® ARM7™ processor and a DSP core.
In addition to the Bluetooth communication control, the integrated DSP provides echo cancellation, noise reduction and audio decoding. By connecting an external codec IC, hands-free telephone calls and music playback can be realized through a simple control operation from a host processor.
