Long time operation with batteries is a common design requirement for various applications. Especially, the wireless earphones must be small batteries and the battery capacity must be low. In order to supply a large number of high-performance ICs with a small battery capacity and to drive them for a long time, it is necessary not only to reduce the power consumption of individual high-function ICs, but also to utilize various techniques in the design of power supply circuits. In addition, it is important that the wireless earphones fit tightly to the ears while being small. While the size of the board is required to match the shape of the earphones, they are always exposed to the risk of electrostatic damage due to static electricity generated by the human body because they are worn on the ears during use.

Power supply management from charging ICs and power supply control ICs, the required performance for power supplies such as wireless communication ICs, audio ICs, and flash memories may increase. Since these ICs always operate when using earphones, the power supply must be stabilized. LDO selection is especially important for low-voltage/high-current power control. Toshiba's TCR5BM and TCR3UG series LDO regulators feature a wide output-voltage range from 0.8V to 5.0V with low current consumption. By using these, it is possible to achieve both space saving and low power consumption by optimizing the operation of the entire system.

In addition, static electricity occupies the earphone charging terminal, microphone, and other externally exposed parts. To avoid damage caused by this, Toshiba's high-IPP TVS diodes (ESD protection diodes) can be used to suppress from a few ns-order to ms-order ESD and transient voltages. In order to miniaturize the circuit due to the growing demand for smaller enclosures, those products have small packages options. In addition, it has been certified for IEC61000-4 series, so it is possible to provide a simpler and stronger protective circuit than ever before.

Toshiba offers a wide line-up of LDO regulators that are suitable for high-performance requirements, such as low drop-out voltage and low current consumption.
