Function explanation (Timer mode)

Overview

  • TMPM369FDFG has four channels of the 16-bit multi-purpose timer (MPT).
  • The 16-bit multi-purpose timer has the timer mode, IGBT mode, and PMD mode (MPT0 and 1 only).

Operation overview in the timer mode

  • A clock obtained by dividing the ΦT0 output from the part of the system clock, or the external clock is used as the basic clock.
  • The count clock is counted up with the 16-bit up-counter.
  • When the setting value of the MPT register 0 or 1 matches the value of 16-bit up-counter, interrupt is issued.
  • If Timer Flip-flop control is permitted at the time of interrupt, pulse is output by reversing Flip-flop.
  • Values of the 16-bit up-counter can be taken out (captured) by an external signal or a software instruction.
Operation overview in the timer mode
  • When 16-bit multi-purpose timer is used in timer mode, operation setting is performed by two or more registers. The following operations are possible by these combinations.
    • 16-bit interval timer mode 
      Periodic interrupt is generated using the internal clock. The operation is the same as that in 16-bit interval timer mode of 16-bit timer (TMRB) (the name of the control register is different).
    • 16-bit event counter mode 
      The number of pulse is counted with the external clock (TBxIN pin).
    • 16-bit programmable rectangular waveform output (PPG, one output) mode 
      Square waves with any frequency and any duty (programmable square waves) can be output. The operation is the same as 16-bit PPG (programmable square waves) output mode of 16-bit timer (TMRB) (the name of the control register is different).
