Overview

  • TMPM369FDFG has four channels of the 16-bit multi-purpose timer (MPT).
  • The 16-bit multi-purpose timer has the timer mode, IGBT mode, and PMD mode (MPT0 and 1 only).

Operation overview in the IGBT mode

  • Synchronized 2-phase PPG output is performed by 16-bit up-counter and five registers for comparison.
  • A clock obtained by dividing the ΦT0 output from the part of the system clock is used as the basic clock.
  • The count clock is counted up with the 16-bit up-counter.
  • The cycle of the PPG is determined by the timer register 4.
  • First phase of PPG output is H output due to coincidence with timer register 0, and is L output due to coincidence with timer register 1.
  • Second phase of PPG output is H output due to coincidence with timer register 2, and is L output due to coincidence with timer register 3.
  • There is a protection circuit whose output can be turned OFF by the GEMGx input.

An example of IGBT control using the 2-phase PPG output

The following is an example of performing electric power control of the AC input using the IGBT mode of multi-purpose timer (MPT).

  • The trigger start signal (MTxIN) of the time is set as the zero cross-point signal (point at which voltage rises from voltage 0V) of AC input.
  • The PPG1 (MTMOUT0x) is set as the high side control signal of the IGBT, and PPG2 (MTOUT1x) as the low side control signal.
  • The high side of the IGBT turns on in the "H" period of PPG1, and the AC input and the output of a corresponding phase are acquired. Moreover, the low side of the IGBT turns on in the "H" period of PPG2.
An example of IGBT control using the 2-phase PPG output
  • Set the following to the IGBT timer register.
    • MTxRG0 : Time from the zero cross point to the high-side is turned ON
    • MTxRG1 : Time from the zero cross point to the high-side is turned OFF
    • MTxIGRG2 : Time from the zero cross point to the low-side is turned ON
    • MTxIGRG3 : Time from the zero cross point to the low-side is turned OFF
    • MTxIGRG4 : Periodical time of the AC input
