MG08-D Series

The Enterprise Capacity 7200rpm HDD models offer up to 8TB(SATA) and up to 4TB(SAS), a choice of interface (SATA - MG08ADA Series, and SAS - MG08SDA Series), as well as a choice of 512 Native(512n) sector or 512 emulation(512e) sector technologies. All models utilize a power-efficient mechanical design incorporating the latest advancements in HDD technology. MG08-D Series models are designed to provide plug-and-play robustness using the industry standard 3.5-inch form factor. Model options supporting Sanitize Instant Erase (SIE) and Self-Encrypting Drive(SED) are also available.

  • Definition of capacity: One terabyte (TB) = one trillion bytes, but storage capacity actually available may vary depending on operating environment and formatting.  Available storage capacity (including examples of various media files) will vary based on file size, formatting, settings, software and operating system and/or pre-installed software applications, or media content.  Actual formatted capacity may vary.
  • A mebibyte (MiB) means 1048576 bytes.
  • MTTF (Mean Time to Failure) of the HDDs during its life time is two million hours and AFR(Annualized Failure Rate) is 0.44%. This assumes 8760 h/year power on hours (24 hours per one day, 7 days per one week), up to 550TB/year total data transfers, and average HDA surface temperature:40°C or less.  Use at case HDA surface temperature above 40°C may degrade product reliability and reduce warranty period.
  • Read and write speed may vary depending on the host device, read and write conditions, and file size.
  • SIE: Sanitize Instant Erase. SIE is a function to invalidate the data recorded on the magnetic disks at a blink.
  • SED supports TCG Enterprise SSCs.
  • The HDDs which have any security function may not be available in the countries where the use of such HDDs is prohibited or limited due to export control and local regulations.
  • "3.5-inch" mean the form factor of HDDs. They do not indicate drive's physical size.
  • Workload is a measure of the data throughput of the year, and it is defined as the amount of data written, read or verified by commands from the host system.
