Impact of Earthquakes in the Kyushu Area on Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corp. Group Operations (Update 5)

Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation has responded to the major earthquakes that occurred off the coast of Kyushu on January 22 by establishing an emergency task force at its headquarters in Kawasaki, Japan. Our first concern is the safety of our employees and their families, and beyond this the wellbeing of the local community in the affected area. We are also assessing the damage to our production facilities, and will provide updates as soon as they become available.

Status of Toshiba’s Group Companies’ facilities in Kyushu area

Japan Semiconductor Inc. Oita Operations (Oita City, Oita Pref., Japan, Semiconductor production)

  • We continue repairs and equipment replacement, including fuse quartz and other parts, and will resume wafer input on February 14 as reported in Update 4.
  • A reported in Update 4, we expect to restore full pre-earthquake production levels by the end of the second week of March.
