President & CEO Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation
Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation became independent from Toshiba Corporation through a company split in July 2017. The electronic devices & components businesses undertaken by Toshiba Materials Co., Ltd. and Toshiba Hokuto Electronics Corp. were added to our portfolio in April, joining our long-standing business domains of Semiconductors, HDDs, and Semiconductor Production Systems. Now, as a comprehensive components supplier in a broad sense, we channel our experience and expertise into providing higher value added products.
There is today a lack of clarity in the world economy and our business environment, but no one can doubt the continuation of the long term megatrends of progress in IoT, energy saving initiatives, advances in the electrification of automobiles, or the explosion of information. For that reason, we remain tightly focused on promoting closer collaboration with customers and developing solutions that anticipate their future needs.
In Semiconductors, we are advancing strategic investments that will boost our production capacity, particularly for Power Devices, and seeking growth in automotive LSI and other focus businesses. In HDDs, we continue to launch large capacity Nearline HDDs for data center markets ahead of the competition. In Materials & Components, we provide cutting-edge materials, including SiN substrates, and high precision electronic components for the industrial, medical and many other markets. Last not but least, we will pursue further synergies with Nuflare Technology Inc. in the Semiconductor Production System area.
We believe it is critically important to take actions on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2030. We tackle social issues the world faces by promoting innovation and providing products that contribute to people’s lives and the development of industry. We also recognize being a sustainable manufacturer as one of our social missions.
I want Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation to be trusted and valued by its customers, and to satisfy all stakeholder expectations by maximizing corporate value. This is our way to realize our Group Vision: “Our semiconductor and storage products will always be a driving force to change the world”.
