Toshiba Electronics Europe GmbH (“Toshiba”) is expanding its surge protection Zener diodes lineup with the addition of four new products to its CUZ series. The CUZ56V, CUZ62V, CUZ68V, and CUZ75V, with Zener voltages (VZ) of 56V, 62V, 68V, and 75V respectively, are designed for use in power supplies for data centers, network equipment, industrial systems, and system architectures with 48V and above.
The new products in the CUZ series are designed to protect semiconductor devices against long pulse width switching surges and induced lightning surges, which can occur in the range of microseconds to milliseconds, as well as overvoltage pulses that are close to DC. While Toshiba’s TVS diodes specialise in ESD protection, these Zener products protect against surges while still providing electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection.
All four products in this specific lineup share an absolute maximum power dissipation (PD) of 600mW and a peak pulse current (IPP) rating of 5A, according to IEC61000-4-5 at a peak transient (tpZ (min. to max.) ranges span from 52V to 60V (CUZ56V) up to 70V to 79V (CUZ75V), measured at a current (IZ) of 2 mA. Additionally, ESD voltages (VESD) range from ±13kV (CUZ56V) to ±23kV (CUZ75V) under contact conditions, and 5kV under air conditions. The dynamic resistance (RDYNC) ranges from 112V to 120V.
The new products are housed in the SOD-323 (USC) package, which features gull-wing leads for easy installation and provides good mounting visibility with automatic optical inspection (AOI) equipment for improved reliability. The package dimensions are small, typically 2.5mm x 1.25mm x 0.9mm, contributing to space-saving efforts on circuit boards and offering compatibility with existing SOD-323 mounting environments.
Toshiba will continue to expand its lineup of protection Zener diodes to help improve the reliability of electronic equipment.
