50V/5A Brushed DC Motor Driver for Large Motors in Consumer and Industrial Equipment

In recent years, there has been an increasing demand for large motors with high output and high torque in consumer and industrial equipment such as air conditioning systems, massage chairs, and financial terminals. The drivers to control these motors in the equipment require high current drive and high functionality.
Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation ("Toshiba”) has launched TB67H482FNG, a single-brushed DC motor driver with a motor output voltage rating of 50V and a motor output current rating of 5A[1].
TB67H482FNG features low on-resistance (High-side + Low-side) between the output transistor drain and source, 0.2Ω (typ.), which reduces heat generation of the motor driver. The current consumption in Sleep mode achieves an industry-leading 1μA (max) [2].
The new product has a built-in regulator that can be driven by a single power supply with only the motor supply voltage. Furthermore, the input interface is a PHASE input type, allowing easy control of the motor’s forward and reverse rotation by setting the signal to High/Low.
The motor power supply voltage range supports from 8.2V to 44V, making it suitable for common 12V, 24V, and 36V motor applications as well as for a wide range of motor applications with various voltages.
The package is HTSSOP28 which is widely used in the industry, making it easy to route wiring on the board. Additionally, by incorporating the external capacitor for the charge pump circuit into the motor driver itself, the number of external components is reduced, thereby increasing the flexibility of the board wiring layout.
