Toshiba Electronics Europe GmbH (“Toshiba”) has started mass production of three TXZ+™ Family Entry-Class M4H Group standard microcontrollers for versatile system control in consumer and industrial equipment. The microcontrollers are designed for consumer products such as air conditioners and washing machines, as well as industrial equipment including multifunction printers and factory automation systems.
The M4H Group comprises the TMPM4H4FYUG, TMPM4H2FYDUG, and TMPM4H1FYUG. Each device meets the computing performance and responsiveness requirements of modern consumer products and industrial equipment. The devices support core system-control functions, including control logic, interface processing, and timing control. They feature an Arm® Cortex®-M4 core with a floating-point unit (FPU) and memory protection unit (MPU), operating at up to 120MHz. Integrated memory comprises 256KB of code flash and 18KB of RAM with parity.
A supply voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V supports use in equipment with 5V power supplies. An integrated 10MHz high-speed oscillator with ±1% accuracy helps reduce external component requirements and provides greater design flexibility.
Peripheral functions include a 12-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC), timers, a universal asynchronous receiver/transmitter (UART), a serial peripheral interface (SPI), an inter-integrated circuit (I²C) interface and direct memory access (DMA). An advanced programmable motor driver (A-PMD) supports brushless DC motor control, allowing the devices to meet a wide range of system needs. Self-diagnostic features support functional safety requirements.
Three package options allow designers to select a device based on the required I/O functionality, PCB space and assembly requirements. The TMPM4H4FYUG uses a 64-pin LQFP package measuring 10mm × 10mm with a 0.5mm pitch. The TMPM4H2FYDUG is housed in a 48-pin LQFP package measuring 7mm × 7mm with a 0.5mm pitch, while the TMPM4H1FYUG uses a 44-pin LQFP package measuring 10mm × 10mm with a 0.8mm pitch.
Toshiba provides product documentation, sample software and Common Microcontroller Software Interface Standard (CMSIS)-compliant drivers to support evaluation and development. Evaluation boards and development environments will be introduced progressively in collaboration with Arm ecosystem partners, supporting customers from initial evaluation through to production ramp-up.
