"Kaga TOSHIBA Forest" Maintenance and Preservation Activities

Kaga Toshiba Electronics Corporation (Nomi City, Ishikawa Pref.)

Since fiscal 2013, we have leased a portion (3.33 ha) of city-owned land in Tatsuguchi Hillside Park and called it "Kaga TOSHIBA Forest." Employees and their families have taken the lead in forest maintenance and conservation activities, with the support and guidance of the "Nomi Satoyama Fun Club" and the government. These activities are held twice a year, in spring and fall, with the aim of making each employee reaffirm the importance of satoyama creation and promoting interaction with the local community. Due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, this activity was cancelled from FY2020 with many participants. However, after taking thorough measures to prevent infection, a small group of participants maintained the walking trail and its surroundings, removed fallen trees, made and installed benches using fallen trees, pruned branches, and cut underbrush, etc. In FY2022 The project was conducted in April and October.

Establishment of an ecosystem network through protection activities for rare plants and attracting flying debris

Japan Semiconductor Corporation Head Office/Iwate-Operations (Kitakami City, Iwate Pref.)

The location of the rare plant flower bed was relocated and completed in June. As in the past, seedlings of primroses, cresses, Japanese buttercups, and oriental lilies were planted as rare plants, and propagation has been restarted. In addition, seedlings of Ezo enoki, a tree on which the larvae feed, were planted in the flower beds to attract the national butterfly, the Japanese giant purple butterfly.
In addition, as part of the "Flower Blooming Road Signpost PJ," about 600 salvia, marigold, and other plants were planted in sections, with a total of 89 people participating, using the Corona disaster to avoid three dense layers of vegetation. This activity was conducted as part of the Kitakami City Flower Filled Movement.
