The new MQ04 HDD Series 2TB model delivers more capacity for notebook PCs, game systems and other client storage applications
Irvine, Calif. — February 26, 2018 — Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. (TAEC), a committed technology leader, announces its new MQ04 Series 2TB1 HDD model MQ04ABD200, designed for use in notebook PCs, all-in-one and slim-line desktop systems, and other applications requiring high capacity storage and 2.5-inch2 mobile-class durability.
The MQ04ABD200 dual-disk model delivers 2TB of storage capacity in a compact 2.5-inch, 9.5mm height form factor. The drive’s 6Gbit/s3 SATA interface and 5,400rpm performance, combined with a large 128MiB4 buffer, result in a 34 percent increase in maximum transfer rates and a 50 percent improvement in power efficiency5 compared to Toshiba’s previous 1TB mobile-class model generation, MQ01ABD100.
“Achieving 2TB capacity in the industry-standard 2.5-inch form-factor is a big advance in both value and performance,” said Scott Wright, Director of HDD Marketing for Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc.. “With a field-proven two disk 9.5mm design heritage, the new MQ04 2TB model offers excellent value and capacity in a space-efficient design.”

1Definition of capacity: A terabyte (TB) is 1,000,000,000,000 bytes. A computer operating system, however, reports storage capacity using powers of 2 for the definition of 1TB = 240 = 1,099,511,627,776 bytes and therefore shows less storage capacity. Available storage capacity (including examples of various media files) will vary based on file size, formatting, settings, software and operating system and/or pre-installed software applications, or media content. Actual formatted capacity may vary.
2Form Factor: "2.5-inch" means the form factor of HDDs. They do not indicate drive's physical size.
3Read and write speed may vary depending on the host device, read and write conditions, and file size.
4A mebibyte (MiB) means 220, or 1,048,576 bytes.
5Power efficiency is calculated based on low power idle power consumption divided by formatted capacity.
