Toshiba To Showcase Latest Enterprise Hard Drive Tech at HPE Discover 2019

Live demo using HPE Cloudline server will underscore performance and TCO benefits of flagship hard drives

Irvine, Calif. — Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. (TAEC) is exhibiting at HPE Discover in Las Vegas on June 18-20, 2019 and will be showcasing its latest high-capacity enterprise hard drives on the show floor. HPE Discover attendees can witness a live demo of the performance and power-saving TCO benefits of the helium-sealed 9-disk Toshiba MG08 16TB[1] Hard Drive. The demo will use the HPE Cloudline CL3100 Gen10 server, an ultra-dense storage server built on open design principles, to compare the performance and power profile of Toshiba’s flagship MG08 16TB 9-disk helium-sealed HDD model and Toshiba’s innovative MG06 10TB 7-disk conventional HDD design.

The 16TB MG08 Series is one of the industry’s largest capacity[2] Conventional Magnetic Recording (CMR) HDDs.  With 33% more capacity than today’s widely adopted 12TB drives, and 14% more capacity than prior 14TB models, MG08 16TB drives are compatible with the widest range of applications and operating systems, and adapted to mixed random and sequential read and write workloads in both cloud and traditional data center environments.

The MG08 Series demo will take place at the Toshiba HDD booth #268 at the Las Vegas Sands Convention Center where attendees can also view the rest of Toshiba’s enterprise HDD line-up.

1 Definition of capacity: Toshiba defines a megabyte (MB) as 1,000,000 bytes, a gigabyte (GB) as 1,000,000,000 bytes and a terabyte (TB) as 1,000,000,000,000 bytes. A computer operating system, however, reports storage capacity using powers of 2 for the definition of 1GB = 230 = 1,073,741,824 bytes and therefore shows less storage capacity. Available storage capacity (including examples of various media files) will vary based on file size, formatting, settings, software and operating system, such as Microsoft Operating System and/or pre-installed software applications, or media content. Actual formatted capacity may vary.
