The Arm® Cortex®-M4 processor core products, based on the Armv7E-M architecture, support the following instructions through DSP extensions:
They are suitable for “motor control applications” using FOC method, as well as “communication & data processing applications” that heavily utilize multi-port communication and data processing.
The Arm® Cortex®-M3 processor core products are equipped with the Armv7E-M architecture and offer a standard series that provides high performance and real-time processing with low power consumption. In addition to general-purpose applications, they also offer products suitable for “motor control applications” using FOC method, as well as “communication & data processing applications”.
The Arm® Cortex®-M0 processor core products are equipped with the Armv6-M architecture and offer a series that supports a basic instruction set with low power consumption and a small footprint. These products are not only suitable for general-purpose applications but also optimized for measurement equipment applications.
Equipped with Toshiba’s original 8-bit microcontroller, the TLCS™-870/C1 core, it features 16-bit general-purpose registers and can execute 16-bit arithmetic/transfer instructions. By adopting a method of independently managing code and data in dedicated address spaces, it achieves a maximum address space of 128K bytes.
Provision of new position estimation control technology to simplify the Field Oriented Control of motors
Provides PC Tool and motor control firmware dedicated to the TXZ+™ Family Advanced Class microcontrollers. We have added support for a new position estimation control that simplifies the adjustment during the evaluation of motors under Field Oriented Control.

In recent years the proliferation of digital technology and the IoT (Internet of Things) have led to the increased functionality of various devices, and there is a growing need for large-capacity programming and FOTA (Firmware update Over The Air) compatibility. Toshiba is responding to these needs by expanding its lineup of microcontroller products.
In this seminar, we will introduce Toshiba’s Arm® Cortex®-M3 equipped microcontroller products that support FOTA and give a demonstration of the functionality.
