The output turns off when a thermal shutdown condition (TSD) is detected while the input signal is High. The output remains off as long as the thermal shutdown condition persists. When an abnormal load or environmental condition has disappeared or when the output current ceases to flow as a result of the output being turned off, the chip temperature begins to drop. When it falls below the TSD recovery temperature, the output turns back on automatically. If the abnormal load or environmental condition persists for an extended period of time, the output cycles through the operation shown below.
Thermal shutdown is designed for temporary protection of the IPD. Be sure to shut down a system in the event of thermal shutdown.
