Is it possible to configure a wired OR circuit by connecting output terminals in general-purpose logic ICs?

A wired OR circuit can be configured by using a buffer with an open-drain output (74HC07, etc.). (Fig. 1)

It is also possible to configure wired-OR with products with 3-state output buffers (74VHC126, etc.). The A and B terminals can be fixed to low (L), and wired OR can be configured using the G1 and G2 terminals and an external pull-up resistor.
