Inrush current reduction is a function that suppresses the inrush current generated during switching with the slew rate control driver circuit (slow start circuit) built into the load switch IC. If the inrush current at each transient switching time increases significantly in the case where more than one power source is supplied from the PMIC, it may temporarily exceed the current capacity of the PMIC, causing a malfunction such as shutdown or system trouble. In order to prevent such a situation, it is necessary to suppress the inrush current.
We mass-produce load switch ICs with multiple slew rate control functions. If the output capacity is large, the inrush current (rush current) can be kept low by using the product with a slow slew rate (SRC3 in the figure above). On the other hand, if a fast VOUT start-up is required, the power supply can be controlled optimally by using products with a fast slew rate (SRC1 in the figure above).
