Are there any special considerations for using switching diodes?

Switching diodes are designed to switch a small signal and thus are not suitable for high-voltage applications. Check the maximum allowable voltage and current of diodes and select the ones that provide sufficient design margins. As a rule of thumb, switching diodes should be used at less than tens of mA and 50 V.
