How can I distinguish between the anode and cathode terminals?

Diode Symbol
[Figure: Diode Symbol]

For two-terminal diodes, the cathode terminal is marked by a laser or other technique.

For diodes with three or more terminals, see the technical datasheet for the positions of cathode terminals.

Example of Diode Marking
[Figure: Example of Diode Marking]

* This is a mark from an ejector pin left for manufacturing reasons. Keep in mind that it is not a cathode mark and has no meaning as to electrical characteristics.
