Quiescent current (IB) is the current consumed by the internal control circuitry of an LDO when it is active. Quiescent current is defined as the current flowing from the GND terminal. The datasheets show a value under a zero-load condition (IOUT=0 A) at the specified input voltage (VIN), bias voltage (VBIAS), and temperature. LDOs with low quiescent current are suitable for battery-operated mobile applications.
