Smaller Area and Higher Functionality

Discrete devices necessary to create a load switch

Toshiba Load Switch ICs have various additional functions that are complicated with the conventional circuit configuration configured with discrete components, such as inrush current reduction, reverse current blocking, overcurrent protection, thermal shutdown, and auto output discharge, in a single-chip IC. They easily realize high-performance systems with a small area and at low cost.

When designing a power switch, many discrete components, such as MOSFETs, transistors, diodes, capacitors, and resistors, are often used in combination, but the load switch IC can be replaced by a single micro-IC. In addition, various functions such as inrush current reduction, output discharge, reverse current blocking, overcurrent, and thermal shutdown can be built in. In addition to simplifying the time and labor required for circuit adjustment and greatly reducing the mounting area, the number of components can be greatly reduced.
