What applications are eFuse IC (electronic fuses) used for?

Toshiba eFuse IC can be used as power line protection ICs for such consumer electronics and industrial devices as shown below.

Typical uses are short-circuit protection of USB terminals and protection of subsequent ICs.
It is also suitable for protecting applications that require the safety standard IEC 62368-1.
