Automotive applications continue to evolve, minimizing impact to the environment and providing safe driving and convenience within a wide variety of fields including engines, transmissions, active safety, lighting, passenger comfort and infotainment systems. Semiconductors are accelerating the technology required in realizing these evolutions.

Toshiba focuses on contributing to the electrification of automobiles and leverage our cutting-edge semiconductor technology to provide a wide range of semiconductor products, including analog, connectivity, discrete, logic and power management. These semiconductors are manufactured at facilities that are AEC-Q100 and AEC-Q101 certified, meeting the various reliability tests of the Electronic Components Council and are also certified to IATF 16949 standards.

Automotive Devices

Toshiba has a wide range of semiconductor products that are essential for the electrification of automobiles. Toshiba focuses mainly on automotive inverters, battery management systems, and motor drives for applications such as electric power steering, electric water pumps, and fans for electric air conditioning. In particular, our high voltage and low loss power devices make a significant contribution in achieving highly efficient electrification. Toshiba will continue to provide cutting-edge semiconductor technologies with future perspective.

IATF16949 Certification Information

With the slogan “Persistent improvement and innovations to achieve the best quality and customer satisfaction in the world,” Toshiba strives to improve the quality and reliability of products by incorporating attention to quality in all stages, from planning and designing to manufacturing. The products include automotive semiconductor products.

To realize our goal, and to satisfy the demand for quality products from customers, we maintain a quality management system based on IATF16949, which is an international standard.

Reference Designs

There are increasing cases in which a highly versatile reference design based on device selection and optimal solutions of circuits is being used as an efficient development design approach.
Not only schematics as reference circuit but also PCB pattern data, Gerber data, and sample software as reference design are available for quick advancement of equipment designs.
We hope these reference designs can be used as a base for new designs and support turn-key development which helps in reducing labor.

We developed an automotive body motor control circuit that supports sensorless vector control using SmartMCDTM, a gate driver IC with a built-in microcontroller. This reference design provides explanations of design points of various circuits, design data, and usage methods.
