Could ESD events destroy TVS diodes (ESD protection diodes)? (What is their ESD tolerance level?)

The ESD tolerance of our TVS diodes is measured in a manner compliant with IEC 61000-4-2, ESD Immunity Testing, from the International Electrotechnical Commission. Our TVS diodes are available with a guaranteed ESD tolerance of ±8 kV to ±30 kV. Generally, TVS diodes with lower total capacitance C_T provide lower ESD tolerance.
Our TVS diodes do not suffer any degradation from ESD events lower than the guaranteed ESD tolerance level even if they are exposed to ESD events multiple times.
Some TVS diodes are guaranteed in terms of peak pulse current as per IEC 61000-4-5, Surge Immunity Testing.
